The inspiration for this drama is "The Mirror of Simple Annihilated Souls", written by Marguerite Porete, for which she was condemned by the Inquisition in 1310.
The book was thought to have been burned with her, but was rediscovered in modern times.

In this extract, Hadewich (Stephanie Campion) shelters Marguerite (Hester Wilcox) at her Beguinage, a spiritual women's order independent of the church.
